Symbian C++ Programming Tutorial

Note: this tutorial is quite outdated, and does not cover newer IDEs like carbide nor the Series60 3rd Edition. If you are aware of this, it is still a god (I hope) jump start. Skip the section about installing an environment and go straight to install Carbide

Welcome. This is an online tutorial about C++ programming for the Series 60 platform, based on the Symbian Operating System. I started writing this tutorial from the material of my Symbian programming blog. Now the tutorial lives a live of his own, although the blog is still updated (not as frequently as before, however...).
All the relevant content from the blog is now in this tutorial, and I am now improving it. Also I plan to place some new material on the blog long before I move it in the tutorial. So you can keep an eye on the blog for the fresh (and raw) meat, and on the book for a cooked meal.
To know at a glance the status of the book, go to the sitemap, where you can have a bird's eye view.

Symbols in the chapter give you the status of the chapters; the meaning is:

  • '*': some content in the chapter but unfinished (work in progress)
  • '-': no content at all (void chapter, only a placeholder)
  • ' ': (nothing) FINISHED, DONE

The book will be finished when you see no '-' or '*' in the sitemap.
